Please show up on time, if late may need to reschedule and a cancellation fee charged as we book a tight schedule. Proper IDs are needed (especially birth certificates for minors). • We cannot pierce you if you are: taking the prescription drug Accutane, taking any blood thinners, or on any blood pressure medications, pregnant, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We also recommend not swimming for at least 2 months after getting any piercings.

  • We do not for nostrils and most cartilage ear piercings. We recommend rings after minimum 6 months, once more healed. Rings have a lot of movement and most have seams/hinges that shift in & out of the piercing; therefore causing irritation and making the piercing channel more susceptible to irritation bumps or what some think are ‘keloids’. If we were to pierce with a ring initially it would need to be a thick gauge, captive bead ring, and a large diameter to accommodate for the initial swelling making it look big and bulky. Most clients who want rings want the thinnest, snuggest seamless ring. There are too many variables and problems so we make the conscious decision to not offer rings for initial piercings (exceptions are first earlobes, daiths, and septums). We are more than happy to install a ring after 6 months post-piercing for nostrils and most cartilage though!

  • *We do not do below-the-belt piercings. We are not trained in this area. Although we do carry large gauge genital jewelry for purchase, can always custom order you something in, and we can help install/remove jewelry!

    *We do not offer frenulum (otherwise known as “smiley” piercings) due to their high risk of migration and tooth damage caused.

    * We do not offer horizontal tongue piercings (otherwise known as “snake eyes”) due to their high risk of migration, tooth/gum damage, speech impediment, and movement with piercing two tongue muscles together.

    * We do not offer cheek piercings, due to this area of the face containing the parotid duct (a conduit for a component in saliva). Piercing into this can be disastrous, resulting in leakage and dripping that continues even after jewelry is removed and may result in medical cauterization.

    * We do not offer surface anchors (otherwise known as “dermals”) due to their high risk of migration; they’re temporary and last only a few months to a few years and leave behind a scar. With that being said, we can offer surface barbell piercings (which do not risk rejection as much).

  • We pierce 13+ for the following:

    -ear cartilage piercings, nostril, eyebrow, bridge, septum, lip, tongue, navel

    Emily only pierces 5+ for children’s earlobes.

    The reason she does not pierce younger is due to the following:

    * Can be traumatic, especially for babies and toddlers who are having to be forcibly held by the parent and do not consent to the pain

    * The risk of infection is a lot higher for children who are not old enough to refrain from touching the piercings, either because they are too young to understand aftercare directions or lack of self-discipline

    * A piercing that is positioned center on a baby or toddlers earlobes can eventually become uneven (too low or close to the face) as their body matures and grows

    Parent/guardian must be present with their ID and the minor must have a physical copy of their birth certificate with them. Parent/guardian must approve the piercing and stay for the entire duration due to liability reasons.

  • We only pierce with a sterilized beveled needle and high-quality, sterile titanium jewelry.

    The needle seems more intimidating but it is actually a lot smoother, faster, and better for healing. A misconception is that hollow needles punch out tissue/skin, although they just make a tiny slit and then stretch the tissue to the correct hole size for jewelry.

    Piercing Guns are horrible and should be avoided at all costs. Here is why:

    They force a dull, pointy earring through the lobe and cause a lot of tissue trauma & scar tissue. The posts used for these only come in one length and do not accommodate for swelling, which can lead to the jewelry embedding & a hospital visit. These earrings typically have a butterfly-clasp backing and are extremely uncomfortable & poky, especially when sleeping. Piercing guns are usually just wiped with alcohol between clients and are plastic so they cannot be properly sterilized in an autoclave, therefore making it extremely likely to get an infection. These guns can get stuck and lock onto the tissue, making it a very traumatic and painful experience.

    Lastly, businesses that offer these services almost always give horrible aftercare advice-making the whole experience a huge waste of money and time.

  • Before any piercing, we will consult with you about your individual bodily anatomy.

    We may decline to perform certain piercings on you based on your anatomy and will explain why.

    If this is the case, we will do our best to suggest similar or alternative piercings that will have a better result of healing.

    This is common among navels, industrials, snugs, septums, surface barbell, and genital piercings.

  • We do not allow photos or videos in the piercing room while a piercing is being performed. You are more than welcome to take before & after photos of just the client, with their consent. Or of the piercer and client after the piercing is over with; if the piercer and client give consent.

    Absolutely NO photos allowed in the studio at any time for genital piercings, this is against the law & you will be committing a crime.

  • Unfortunately we work appointment only and do require appointments for any jewelry purchases. Our jewelry display is in the piercing room so it wouldn’t be possible to view jewelry if we are with another client. We do not offer an online catalog as our jewelry collection changes often. We get new pieces in on a monthly basis and any online catalog would be no longer effective as we sell pieces in store on a first come first served basis. A jewelry change appointment or piercing appointment must be booked in order to purchase jewelry in person through us.

  • Yes definitely! We want our clients to feel supported and comforted. We require a calm, relaxing presence from them and reserve the right to ask any individual or group to leave if they are disrupting the energy in the studio, we also reserve the right to limit how many people are allowed in the piercing room. Please refer to here to read more about having minors at the studio who are not receiving a service.

  • We do not pierce with outside jewelry. This can include jewelry that was purchased at Red Art and has left the studio. This is to ensure the quality and cleanliness of the jewelry being used to perform new piercings. We will insert jewelry into healed piercings if we can verify it is high quality, implant grade, and threadless or internally threaded.

  • Nipples can be booked here.

    Below-the-belt genital piercings we are not properly trained to perform and would never try something we do not know how to do. With this being said we do carry large gauge jewelry for genital piercings in stock, can always custom order you jewelry in, and can help install/remove jewelry.

  • No we do not nor recommend the client using it prior. The actual piercing is very quick, it takes about 3 seconds and then it is done and over with. Numbing products can distort the tissue, when we mark you and hours later as the numbing wears off the piercing placement can relax and shift crooked. Most numb only the exterior skin and not the inner tissue, making it so you can still feel things. They also create an allergic reaction risk. Unfortunately piercings do hurt, and we try our best to make the process as quick and easy for you as possible.

  • Per Health regulations, and general hygiene, we cannot accept returns or offer exchanges. We know it’s nice to buy jewelry as a present, but this can be tricky as jewelry is not a one-size fits all. We offer gift certificates to purchase to make sure the recipient gets appropriately fitting jewelry, or the recipient can schedule an appointment with us here to purchase jewelry. A piercer must be present for jewelry to be purchased at Red Art.

  • We require your doctor to fill out a form stating you are okay to receive a certain piercing/tattoo on a prescription paper with their contact information if you have any of the following:

    * hemophilia

    * excessive bleeding

    * epilepsy

    * seizures

    * fainting

    * narcolepsy

    * diabetes

    * any other health condition that lowers your immune system & prevents your body from fighting infection

  • We accept Debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay and cash. We charge a 3% card processing fee - please bring cash if you don’t want to pay the extra!
